Baseball
If you noticed the domain name of my blog you may wonder where the “guru” came from. By definition, a “guru” is one who is regarded as having knowledge through experience in a certain area and who uses it to guide others, much like a teacher.
My reason for starting this blog was to use my knowledge in different sports, especially baseball and softball, to give advice and counsel in some of the sports that I am interested in and hoping that it will increase the knowledge and pleasure for sports enthusiasts.
For years I was an avid golfer and really enjoyed the game especially when playing with good friends. My former career as the owner of a travel agency allowed me to play some really great golf courses around the USA and Scotland including Pinehurst, Doral, Turnberry, Spyglass, and my absolute favorite, Pebble Beach. (shot an 87 and I remember every shot)
A few years ago softball and baseball became my passions. I started playing softball again and my grandson was playing baseball so I was really involved with both. One day I wrote down the sports that I had experienced over the years and the list was quite long including sailing canoes, kayaking, lots of camping, water skiing, and the list goes on but softball and baseball were still my primary interests.
My blog will include different sports and, for obvious reasons, softball and baseball will be my major focus at the beginning. The material will be seperated into girls softball, youth and adult softball and baseball and will include a lot of different facits of each including how to buy the right bat, various batting techniques, how to improve your batting average, exercises to keep you fit for the game, different exercises to help your batting, and even how to break in a new glove. (Do not use the microwave for this unless you read my article first)
I will try to keep my “posts” brief and include videos when I find good ones that best illustrate point. My purpose will be to report on the sport in general, how to be the best that you can be and will include the good, the bad, and even the ugly about the sport or equipment if need be.
I welcome your input on any of my reports even if you disagree or do not think that what is reported is clearly written and understandable. Your comments can only make this blog better.
Welcome, and come along for the ride!
A great definition of Gugu. Looking forward to your future posts now that you are playing baseball.
